As always, Dave is helpfully assisting a student. (Note how
appreciative the student is.)

I'm still in the process of putting stuff on the web site.
I'll put
more up as I learn more about this html business. Here's what's
found on this site:
Assorted course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and other
stuff. If you're unlucky enough to be one of my students, check out my
course web
site.
Info about my book projects. You'll find the cover and book jacket
of The
Press and Race, my
anthology published
in
April 2001 by University Press of Mississippi. The book examines how
Mississippi journalists covered racial issues in the 1950s and 1960s. Also
here is my doctoral
dissertation, completed in May 1997 at the
University of Alabama. The
dissertation, to be published by Greenwood Press,
summarizes trends in the American daily
newspaper industry after World War II.
A virtual tour of the USM
campus,
where I
teach. Be sure to see the nice picture of my building, College
Hall. We are on the first floor, in CH110, our new home. Also stop by the USM
Library,
where I spend
many an hour doing history research. And, don't forget to stop by
the USM
Polymer Science
Building. I don't teach in this building, but I visited it
once.
Helpful info for students. My AP
Tipsheet
guide is
available. Other materials will be posted later.
Some funny stuff. I've included here a funny handout written
by Gerald
Grow on How to Write Badly. Note: If
you are one
of my students visiting this web site, DO NOT READ THIS. I also have a
page dedicated to the other folks in the world who bear the glorious name
of Dave Davies.
A salad bar of visual
images from my graduation a few years back.
A web page for the Introduction to
British
Journalism course that
I will teach in Summer 2002 for the USM British Studies Program.
The course, first taught in Summer 2000, will be offered in London July
4-Aug. 5, 2002. The
web
page will be expanded in coming months as plans firm up.
Two versions of my resume, the short, pithy one-page resume, or the longer, more
detailed curriculum vita, which includes scholarly
presentations and whatnot.
A mystery band recorded in 1973. Its signature song is available
as a RealAudio
file. The song was recorded in 1973 by aspiring young artists.
