British Studies in Journalism, JOU499/599

It is the chance of a lifetime. For one month, you are in a dreamland where you can explore some of the most historic cities in the world, make new and interesting friends, and hang out with the one and only David Davies. You will truly remember this experience for the rest of your life.

The British Studies Program was absolutely the best part of my college experience. It was incredibly exciting to learn while staying in a dorm in the center of a vibrant city like London. The instructors were very generous with their time and served as teachers as well as tour guides and impromptu event planners. Nearly every weekend we were able to jet off to see another part of England, or indeed, another country all together. There is simply no other program so affordable or so accessible. Even if you have to borrow every penny to go, you won't regret it for a moment. Seeing the sights with your own eyes and interacting with the people you'll meet will forever change you for the better. I wholeheartedly recommend the program.

Being a part of the USM British studies group has been one of my most memorable and enjoyable experiences. Not only did I learn a tremendous amount about British journalism that helped me in my future career endeavors, but also made friendships that will last a lifetime. I recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn more about the British and European culture; its a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and being in college is the best time to take advantage of it!

British Studies was great! I really liked going places to learn and not sitting in a classroom all day - I got to see a lot of London. The living arrangements were great too. My favorite part was having enough time to travel on the weekends, I saw five countries while I was there. Definitely worth it!

Participating in the British Studies in Journalism program was the highlight of my undergraduate career. I was mugged by an Irish guy in Burger King and drank beer made from seaweed. And those weren't even the best times! Seriously, experiencing life in a variety of foreign countries affected my social outlook in ways that I am still realizing, and studying journalism from a different cultural perspective added a measure of depth to my degree that I couldn't have obtained elsewhere. I highly recommend that any student, regardless of major, participate in this program.

Can't decide whether or not you should spend the money to go to London with the British Studies Program? Let me help you out...GO! DO IT! Visiting other countries, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people forever changed my life (for the better). The instructors were awesome, and the classes were informative and fun. Even if you have to borrow the money, it is worth every penny. It is a decision you won't regret.

British Studies with Dr. D was an experience of a lifetime. First and foremost it was fun AND we were learning. It gave a whole new meaning to 'class trip'. But I'm not here to come up with little one-liners to describe all the great memories I had there. Go, see and do! There is another world out there that only you can see for yourself. See if you can understand something a bit more than someone else. Do you know what the wood from Christopher Columbus' boat, the Mayflower, is used for today? I do! (A pub on the Thames River.) Getting the view from a different perspective can change your life forever and so can getting lost with Dr. D in downtown London!
