PURPOSE
The purpose of The University of Southern Mississippi School Leadership Institute is to improve the achievement of students in all content areas by accomplishing the following goals:
- To improve the leadership skills of building-level administrators, prospective administrators and building-level administrators working on temporary administrative certificates in facilitating core content instruction, comprehension, and student achievement;
- To align content topics with MS content standards;
- To integrate content standards into daily instruction;
- To integrate technology into daily instruction;
- To utilize school-based administrative applications of technology through the use of personal digital assistants and software such as Power Point and teacher observation, and test data analysis software, web-sites, email, and daily organizer;
- To be able to manipulate and interpret appropriate test data;
- To be able to develop and implement action plans based on test data.
The Summer Institute consists of twenty 3.5 hour sessions held during the summer with two 3.5 hour follow-up sessions held during the fall.
Participants are school-level administrators.
