Dr. Gearba gave a poster presentation at the 37th Annual Meeting of the Division of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (DAMOP) of the American Physical Society (APS).

April 2006

Dr. Gearba nominated Anthony Shaffett - a senior physics student at USM - for the SPS Outstanding Student Award for Undergraduate Research.

March 2006

Carrie Walker and Dr. Gearba gave presentations on their research at the 15th Annual USM/USA Mini-Conference in Undergraduate Physics Research held at South Alabama.

February 2006

Dr. Gearba secured funding for the second time for Carrie Walker to participate in the Summer Undergraduate research Fellowship (SURF) program at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD. Carrie joined the Atomic Physics group of Dr. William D. Phillips, 1997 Nobel Laureate for Laser Cooling and Trapping.
