SAMPLING METHODS Seagrass core samples were returned to GCRL for processing. We sampled for the following metrics: 1. Density: counted short-shoots (SS) of each species present. 2. Morphometrics: number of SS per intact individual, internodes on rhizome and SS, leaf length x width, canopy height (max leaf length), number of flowers (Syringodium). 3. Biomass by species: above live, above dead, below, epiphytes 4. Epiphytes were scraped from up to 10 leaves per species, slurry was filtered onto a GF/F (0.7um approx) and dried. Ash free dry weights were recorded after combustion at 500C, 4 hrs to determine % inorganic content. |
