· Research, Impact of Hurricane Katrina. Led development of protocol for research into Katrina’s impact upon schools, students, and staff members and longitudinal study of displaced students. 2005-present.

· High School Reform Initiative. Partnered with the Governor’s Office, the Public School Forum, and the Gates Foundation to promote high school reform models across North Carolina, 2003-2004.

· Student Accountability Policy. Partnered with Governor and State Board of Education to develop, adopt, and implement North Carolina's proficiency-based promotion policy, 1999 – 2004.
· An Act to Stop Threats/Acts of School Violence. Partnered with State Board of Education and Legislature to adopt and implement legislation to increase penalties for bomb threats and related crimes, 1999.
